04/21/2022 Negotiations Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On Tuesday afternoon we received a compensation counter proposal from management that was so insulting and demeaning, we immediately ended the discussions for the remainder of the day. Your committee continued to work on open proposals to get open issues resolved despite our anger and disappointment. On day two of our discussions management opened the session to inform us that they heard what we had to say the day prior and were retracting their wage proposals and would have a revised wage proposal to present to us. We believe that they were so embarrassed that they came to their senses, but only time will tell if that is correct. Our job is to continue to raise our standards as Aircraft Maintenance and related professionals. Management needs to acknowledge that our work is paramount to the airline’s success. Our industry has a shortage of skilled professionals, and we will continue to fight to protect the jobs of our industry. We will continue to fight to recuperate items we were forced to give up during the bankruptcy in 2013 and we will continue to work to make gains for our members. We will not listen to the rhetoric about profit losses during the pandemic. The company made billions prior to that and never offered to share any of their profits. It is time that they restore us to pre bankruptcy levels and more.

The TWU and the Company exchanged Article 6- Holidays, Article 10- Classifications and Qualifications, Article 11- Overtime, Article 15- Furlough and Recall, Article 17- Field Work and Article 18- Attendance at Hearings and Investigations or Training.
